About This Site
There’s a ton of great information about Gems of War out there, already including wikis, the official 505 Games support portal, wikis, Reddit, etc. So why this site? Well, much of the information is either lacking in detail or of limited relevance to lower level players. As for Youtube, well I’m not really a visual learner or communicator. Hence this totally unofficial site.
This section of Galapemy is aimed specifically at beginner (level below about 500) and early intermediate (level around 500 to 800 or so) players of the game. I plan produce articles about game elements and strategy that are more in depth than those found on many sites, but at a lower level than the expert Discords etc. So, no teams recommendations requiring Mythic troops, and I’ll keep Legendaries to a minimum.
I hardly ever play PvP since the introduction of the new system (7.3 ‘Battlegrounds’ update, December 2023), so the main focus here will be on the various PvE game modes and cooperative guild play. I’m mainly an F2P player, but sometimes splash out on the ten week Campaign pass.
Oh, and I’m English. So expect British spellings such as ‘armour’ and ‘colour’.
About Me
So who am I to be offering up this site? Well my name is Trevor (trevor@galapemy.com). I’m not a famous player, I’m not a GoW YouTuber and I’m not active on Discord or social media (not my thing). I’m not even that high a level (currently pushing 1600).
What I am is very, very experienced at the game. I was a massive fan of the original Puzzle Quest, and have been playing Gems of War almost since it arrived on the PS4 way back in 2014 (these days I play on PC). So why aren’t I a top tier player? Because every so often the devs make a change I dislike so much that I rage quit (the most recent was the introduction of Immortals). But I can’t stay away and always come back six months to a year later. When I do, I prefer to start the game from scratch – partly because I find team building at intermediate level more satisfying than creating Mythic-heavy OP squads that can obliterate the enemy on turn one or two. So even without the rage quits, I’d probably still restart every so often.
Hence my wealth of experience – especially at low to medium level! Hopefully some of what I say here will be useful to you. But what works for me might not work for you, and in some cases I might be completely wrong! So use this site at your own risk.
