As well as the standard Rarity level Troops, you will sometimes see enemy Troops with six red stars. These are Boss troops and will have Boss as one of their Troop Types.
Boss Troops are special, super-tough enemies found in Events such as Raid Boss and also the daily Dungeons. Some Bosses are upgrades of normal Troops, others are unique. Either way, they’re nasty. Why? Well, take a look at this boss, Fiery Dago’Nath:

Let’s start with the spell. It’s a 100% Instakill, very rare. Unless the target has immunity to Lethal Damage, you’re guaranteed to lose a Troop every time it’s used. And if you look at the main card face, you’ll see it has all six Mana types! Boss troops normally start near the back of the enemy team, so every time you kill one of the other members, you’re just allowing more Mana to get down to the Boss. And as if that wasn’t bad enough, take a look at its Traits: it’s Invulnerable, making it immune to all Status Effects and Instakills. You can’t even sap its Mana. If you do manage to damage it then it Submerges itself, temporarily protecting it from AoE damage.
In a word: ouch!
The best way of dealing with a Boss is with a boss killer. These are Troops with the Godslayer Trait. This allows them to do very large amounts of damage to a Boss (though they’re not a lot of use elsewhere).
You can buy Godslayer Troops for Gems from the shop in most events. So where do you get the Boss Troops? How can you get a Boss in your team?
You can’t. Bosses are restricted to the AI teams in Events and Dungeons. Which is annoying, but probably a good thing in terms of game balance.
