Who would have thought that coloured rubber bands would become the "must have" accessory for young people? That's what happened in the US during 2010.
What Are Bandz?
Bandz are coloured silicone rubber bands available to buy in a variety of different shapes. Collecting and displaying these has become a craze amongst young people in America and looks set to cross the Atlantic to Europe. Initial bandz were designed to be worn on small wrists, variants include finger ringz and band related accessories such as caribiners and even socks!
Buy, Collect and Wear
The most well known brand of collectible bandz is Sillybandz, however many more people have jumped onto the "bandwagon" (sorry) and you can buy a huge number of different types of band with themes as diverse as Hello Kitty and Christianity!Some manufacturers also produce themed holiday bands such as the Googly Bands Halloween bandz, great to add to your costume.
Will the bandz craze continue or will they disappear by Christmas 2010? At the time of writing this it's too early to tell.
