Thomas Kinkade Jigsaws

Thomas Kinkade is one of the most popular modern American painters. Many people collect his work and you can buy his paintings in various forms from limited edition prints through to mass market posters and licensed reproductions on a wide variety of products.

Kinkade declares himself to be a devout Christian and many of his paintings include overt or implicit religious themes and concepts. Depending on one's position this can either increase or detract from the desirability of his work.

Kinkade's paintings are known for their use of light and colour and he is described as a painter of light. These features of his work - akin to the Luminists - make it very appropriate for use in jigsaw puzzles.

Thomas Kinkade was born in 1958 in California and grew up near the Sierra mountains. He went on to attend the Pasadena Art Center College of Design. His big break occured in 1983 when he was one of the artists chosen to illustrate the Ralph Bakshi animated movie Fire and Ice.

Since then he has been a professional painter with his reputation growing steadily. Merchandising arrangements with companies such as Hallmark have given him great exposure and allowed many people to buy his work in one form or another. Today you can own a piece of Kinkade on everything from screensavers and calendars through to fabric and wallpaper.

And, of course, jigsaws.
