Rubik's Twist
Rubik's Snake is a puzzle from Erno Rubik, inventor of the world famous Rubik's Cube. You can also buy it under the name Rubik's Twist.

Arguably the Snake is not so much of a puzzle as a toy - there is no single solution or even goal. It has also been described as a "kinetic sculpture".

What Is Rubik's Snake?

It might be simplest to describe it as reminiscent of a 3D, twistable version of Tangrams. Then again it might not.

Rubik's Snake consists of 24 triangular wedge-shaped pieces connected together so that they can be rotated and twisted into a variety of shapes. At it simplest the Snake can be formed into a simple straight line. However the fun comes from twisting it into a variety of other - often unexpected - shapes such as a ball.

People have created a huge number of different arrangements of the Snake, everything from geometric figures to more representative figures such as a snowflake, cat and even a Furby! As with the Tangrams, some of these require a degree of imagination to see. Given a picture of the finished object, the puzzle is to determine how to twist the Snake into the correct shape. Some shapes are easy to achieve, others surprisingly difficult.
